Sandy Creek 1857. The original survey of the main road can be seen, well to the west of the cemetery of today. Stubb's Rising Sun Hotel was located a little to the north of the latter-day railway station. The Golden Age Hotel is marked in its current position. Foos' Hotel is marked in the position of the Southern Cross Hotel in Poverty Gully. The George Inn location appears to be in the vicinity of Johnson's Eglinton Hotel and Store, to the south of the town. The Water Holes are in Ironbark Gully.
