Tarnagulla State Battery Site, 2015
Erected in 1915, in the foreground are the foundations for the 5-head mortar box which was bolted to heavy log supports, now mostly destroyed by fire.
To the left rear are the foundations for the driving engine.
The battery was in use well into the 1930s, mostly treating small parcels of ore for local prospectors during the Great Depression years. This battery also processed the rich ore from the re-opened Great Western mine in 1938/39.
