Yorkshire Mine, Tarnagulla, 1909
The mine is not working at the time of the photograph, having closed down the previous year. The big building on the left houses the company's 20-head stamp battery, which had been sold and is about to be relocated to a mine in Eaglehawk.
The Yorkshire was a very well-equipped and well managed mine. Unfortunately, towards the end of the mine's life the gold content of the ore body was insufficient to sustain profitable operation.
