Borough Council Chambers and Mechanics' Institute, c1910
This was originally the Company's Hotel prior to the buidling's occupation by the Colonial Bank and then the Borough Council.
The building as constructed was much more ornate than it appears in this image, with heavy parapet, cornice, etc. which was removed in the 1860s.
The upper left window is sign-written with "Herring and Herring", the Maryborough firm of solicitors who conducted a weekly practice on these premises.
