Alfred, Duke Of Edinburgh, visit to Tarnagulla, 1867.
This is an important original document made available to the Tarnagulla Hall Committee courtesy of the family of the late Murray Comrie.
Queen Victoria's son Alfred made a flying visit to the goldfields in 1867, and was treated with great ceremony wherever he went, including Tarnagulla where he dined at the Victoria Hotel and was feted by the leading men of the town at that time. This is an extremely valuable document in an historic sense. It is addressed to the Mayor and Councillors of the Borough of Tarnagulla, and is personally signed by the Prince.
